SEATTLE - Today is “A Day Without a Bag,” a day holiday shoppers and retailers are asked not to use single-use, plastic shopping bags but to use reusable bags instead.
“Recycling cannot fix the problem,” Katrina Rosen, Environment Washington, said in a statement. “Plastic is hard to recycle because it clogs the recycling machines. Not only that, it often costs more to recycle than it’s worth in the end.”
